授業の目的  
This course has two main objectives. One is to learn qualitative research methods as an analyzing tool to read case based academic journal papers. In the first half of the course, lectures on qualitative research method, mainly on case study approach will be given. The major subjects to cover in the lectures will be: 1) research paradigms, 2) research orientations, 3) analyzing techniques, 4) how to presenting qualitative data, and 5) advantages and limitation of the case study approach.

The other objective is to learn the theories on comparative and international management. In the second half, each student is asked to select a case study based academic paper from the major comparative and international management journals and understand it utilizing the methodology as an analyzing tool.

It is required to read the following two papers and answer the questions BEFORE the sixth lecture starts. Print out the answers and bring it to the sixth lecture. It is used during the group discussions.

授業の方法

The first half of the course will be based on the lecture using ppt slides.
The second half of the course will be based on the individual presentations using ppt slides regarding the academic papers that each student selected. It is followed by discussions which is mainly led by the commentator(s).

No textbook is required. Class materials will be distributed in the first class.
