The goal of this course is to enable you to give powerful and memorable presentations. The ability to write and communicate your ideas effectively will help you in a number of situations such as teaching a classroom full of students, speaking at an academic conference, speaking at a meeting, giving an interview, speaking with the media, addressing the public, and accepting an award. More than just helping your own career, an important message combined with the ability to communicate effectively will help other people as well. Great presentations have the power to change the world which means you have the power to change the world. This class is safe place for you to practice and to hone the skills you will need to become that person.
This course will culminate in an 18 minute speech that you will present on the final day. You will decide the topic of your presentation but it should have something to do with your chosen career path. You will also give brief presentations throughout this course. Memorable presentations often include stories, quotes, analogies, visual aids, challenges, and audience participation. We will practice these aspects of presentation crafting on a weekly basis.
