The overseas practical training on "Education in biosphere reserves for sustainable societies", the theme of the UNESCO Chair at Yokohama National University, will be conducted. The students will visit nature reserves, such as Biosphere Reserves (https://en.unesco.org/biosphere), and consider what they can do to realize sustainable societies in nature reserves and related surrounding areas, drawing on the expertise of the participating students in their studies.

In addition to faculty-led study tours and JASSO scholarships, students can also conduct research and training at biosphere reserves and national parks at their own expense. Students do not need to register for the program on the Academic Affairs Information System, and the faculty will register their grades after the training.
The course progression is as follows Start of the semester: 1. Register in LMS. Subsequent contact will be made by LMS. 2. Take required courses for the minor (e.g., "MAB program and SDGs"). (If students are unable to take these courses for certain reasons, please use video training materials. Study plan should be submitted to koike-fumito-nx@ynu.ac.jp The following information should be provided: (the name of the national park or biosphere reserve where the research and training will take place, the main content of the research and training (about 400 words), the activities to be conducted every morning and afternoon during the training period, the name of the hotel during the research and training, the date of departure from Japan and the date of return to Japan.) 4. Complete the travel procedures of the University. Complete the online overseas safety course offered , purchase overseas travel insurance, join OSSMA if possible, and submit a travel notification and written pledge regarding the trip. Overseas training: 5. training will be conducted. (In the case of student-organized training, the on-site training must be at least 3 days) After returning home: 6. Prepare a report and submit it to koike-fumito-nx@ynu.ac.jp. The report should include the schedule of the field trip, a description of ecosystem, results of interviews and observations (conservation, use, local issues, etc.), attractive points discovered by the student, and how the student can contribute to the society and ecosystem by using his/her own undergraduate specialty. 7. Complete or register at least one of the courses for the MAB/SDGs minor (MAB Program and SDGs, Introduction to Education for Sustainable Development (ESD)). Video materials will be provided for students who are unable to take these courses due to circumstances.
