The theories and empirical analyses of comparative economic systems and industrial dynamics analysis at the graduate level are studied in this course. We learn various theories of comparative economic systems and input-output analysis and apply them to the study of the Japanese economic system and the Chinese economic system as well as the international input-output analysis of the Asian economies. Students are required to write a short empirical research paper on the analysis of comparative economic systems or input-output analysis.

1. Students will acquire the basic knowledge of the theoretical framework of institutional economics and the institutional analysis of the Japanese and Chinese economic systems. 2. Students will study the macroeconomic theory based on national income accounting and the applied analysis of long-term development of the Japanese economy. 3. Students will study the theoretical framework of input-output analysis to consider industrial structural changes in the Japanese economy. 4. Students will study institutional changes in the Japanese and Chinese corporate systems and structural changes in the Japanese and Asian economies promoted by economic integration in East Asia.
