This course provides basic knowledge on technology strategy, mostly at the national level, and on Japan’s innovation policy. The course first clarifies the importance of technology for both developing and developed countries. The first half of the course discusses the issues of technology development mainly for developing countries. The second half of the course discusses Japan’s innovation policy in the past and at present. The topics on Japan’s innovation policy include hot issues of R&D evaluation, university-industry collaboration and overseas R&D.
