This course provides basic knowledge of comparative analyses of the economic planning and energy policy in light of economic development. First, we overview energy balances and endowments in selected developed and emerging economies, using IEA/BP energy statistics etc. Second, we try to give an outlook of experiences of the economic planning and energy policy in selected developed economies and emerging economies. We focus on merits and demerits of the past experiences in light of economic growth. Third, we also look at contemporary issues of ‘resource curse’ in oil exporting countries. In addition, we study the impact of oil prices on economic growth in 1970s and 2000s as well.
