In this course, different lecturers will be in charge. In the first half, Dr.Yokozawa will give lectures on the qualitative research method, mainly on the case study approach. In the second half, Dr. Yang will give lectures on quantitative research methods, such as surveys, experiments, and meta-analysis. The major subjects to cover in the lectures will be: 1) research paradigms, 2) research orientations, 3) analyzing techniques, 4) how to presenting qualitative and quantitative data, and 5) advantages and limitations of the multiple research methods.

For the first half:
It is required to read the following two papers and answer the questions BEFORE the sixth lecture starts. Print out the answers and bring it to the sixth lecture. It is used during the group discussions.

For the second half of the course: Be sure to read assigned articles before each class and finish the homework. The reading list and the assignments will be uploaded on the YNU learning support system (the date will be notified in advance).

In this course, the grading criteria differs between the first half and the second half. The final evaluation will be the calculated based on the the first and second half evaluations.
