In this course, students will develop an in-depth understanding of the fundamental features of thesis writing and the practical skills needed to plan and communicate a research project. We will move from identifying and refining research questions, to situating those questions within the existing body of literature, and then to selecting appropriate methodological approaches. Students will also practice writing key components of a thesis, including the literature review and research design, while learning to address feasibility, ethics, and clarity of presentation.
The main outcome of the course is a well-structured thesis proposal or master plan. This proposal should demonstrate the student’s ability to connect research questions, scholarly debates, and methodology into a coherent framework that can be developed into a full master’s thesis or Ph.D. dissertation.
